Tea Research Institute
is the earliest founded Institute and has research works on the first-graded
industrial plants in Vietnam. It was established in 1918 by the French and
continued its research sincethen.
The Institute
has over 200 hectares of breed garden and experimental garden with over 130
different tea breeds. This place stores the most giant gene budget of tea
plants in Vietnam.
The Institute
has function and task of the experimental scientific research and all-sized
technical advance transfer of tea growing and processing, training cadres,
technicians for the tea department in the country. Researching, applying some
of other plants in the Northern Vietnam. |

Tea Research
Institute has
different research subjects, 01 central experimental laboratory, 02
centers for experiment and advance transfer, 03 functional departments.
Total staff are 414 persons: 2 professors, 10 doctors, 9 masters, 36
university cadres, 45 college cadres, 85 high-graded technical workers ...
Training technical scientific cadres
for tea business production: annually, the Institute trains, guide
apprentices, researchers of 300 students in Agriculture University,
Polytechnic University, junior colleges and tea processing, agriculture
college ... Training, encouraging agricultural expansion for a lot of
cadres, farmers in tea growing provinces, meeting all demands on
operation, deploying technology science in tea development career and
other plants in Northern mountainous provinces. |

Selecting, crossing tea breeds:
Tea breeds selected to cross in the Institute has been changing basically
the tea breed structure of the country. The Institute is managing original
breed corporation of 118 ones, 02 experimental black tea processing
workshops and 01 managing green tea processing workshop. Researching,
collecting, supporting and universalizing the technical process of
advanced tea cultivation, intensive cultivation to make tea gardens gain
high productivity of 15-15 tons/hectare, safe tea production and
cultivation techniques and environment protection.
From more than 130 tea
breeds, the Institute selected and crossed 03 national tea breeds: PH1
breed: the capacity of 20 tons/hectare (small size of 30 tons/hectare);
TRI777 breed having high quality is suitable to high land; LDP1 breed has
the capacity of 15 tons/hectare, good quality that can be applied in
midland and low land. Regionalized breeds: tea breed of 1A, LDP2.
Yearly, the Institute supplies 15-20 million of beards of new tea breed
with high quality in accordance with per condition of climate and land of
each region for tea makers. |
